I love a simple recipe for guac that lets the flavor of the avocado shine through. I usually just mix some diced avocado with diced tomatoes and some lime juice. I like a bit chunky, rather than pureed.

  2. Elizabeth says:

Just lime, salt and a tiny bit of red onion. I like mine simple.

    I’m already a facebook fan!

  4. Traditional: just lime juice, salt, minced onions, and cilantro. Then press saran wrap on top of it to keep it from browning until serving. The whole pit thing is a myth!

Umm, you can get a Go Giants from me :) Did you go to Syracuse? I grew up in Albany and have family that live in the cuse! I love a simple, traditional guac, but i’ve been wanted to play around with adding edamame or peas or even cannellini beans

Can’t wait to cheer on the pats! There will definitely be plenty of guac around. I’m a simple lady-just lime, garlic and cilantro. But Serious Eats did have a great article recently about amping up your guac. i highly recommend it.

MMMM guac. I agree, the simpler, the better. I like mine with lime, garlic, salt. I also love an avocado and tomato salsa I make with the above ingredients plus chopped tomato, red onion, and cilantro.

  11. My favorite thing to do with avocados & puree them with some rice syrup and cocoa to make chocolate mousse, but when it comes to guac, I like Alysa’s roasted tomatillo recipe http://inspiredrd.com/2010/08/roasted-tomatillo-guacamole.html

  12. I think I was already a FB fan as ETW, but now I am under my regular profile, as well.

  13. Allison says:

I like a little spice in my guacamole, so I love to add hot sauce. Other than that, I keep it traditional with lime, lemon, cilantro, tomato, and onion. Oh, and like it to be extra chunky! It really ruins it for me when the guacamole is super smooth.

  14. Allison says:

And I just liked your Facebook page!

  15. Allison says:

    And I tweeted! Yay avocados!

  16. Kris says:

Great giveaway!! In fact, I am making some guac for dinner tonight. I used avocado, lime juice, some chopped onion and jalapeno, salt/pepper and a small bit of salsa. I used a chipotle salsa which gives the guac just a slightly smoky flavor…yummy! My mouth is watering as I type this : )

  17. Sara P. says:

I like to make my guac with avocado, cherry tomatoes (or salsa during the winter), red onion, lime juice, garlic, sea salt, Jalapeño pepper, chili powder, Cayenne pepper and a touch of shoyu. Yum!

  20. I just made a guacamole last week with black beans and red peppers (and some traditional spices) – it was delicious!

I love avocados! My “avocado cream sauce” or “guacamole” use an avocado, a 1/4 cup full fat greek yogurt, salsa, a dash of lime juice, and plenty of cumin! It’s great!

  23. Chuck says:

    Just Tweeted this giveaway!

I like my guacamole with charred corn, serrano peppers, and all the other traditional mixings of lemon/lime, salt and pepper, sweet yellow onion and cilantro. :)

  26. I love a lot of fresh lemon & lime juice. Kosher salt and a little diced hot pepper (or spicy chili powder).

My other favorite is to throw some tomatillos in the food processor until liquidy and smooth. Add pureed avocado, salt, and lots of lime juice for a delicious salsa/guac dip!

  27. I love guacamole! I usually use onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, cumin, garlic, cilantro, salt/pepper, and lime.

  28. Alison g says:

Red or yellow onion, lots of cilantro, lime juice, jalapeño ( lots if you like it hot like me), tomato and avocado. Avocados, Salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy by the bowl full :)

It’s no secret that avocados are my favorite food! And while I love a traditional guacamole, I also like to give it an Asian twist sometimes. I like to whip up the Asian Guac with ginger, scallions, garlic, and a little miso, soy sauce, and crushed dried Thai chili pepper. These fresh, bold flavors pair really well with the healthy fat of the avocado!

  31. Gail Shapiro says:

Believe it or not, I just put the avocado in the blender most of the time and blend until smooth! My family loves the taste just of the avocado! But other times I may add onion powder, garlic, cilantro and fresh garden tomatoes from the garden in the summer. Love it in place of all mayonaise for any dishes or sandwhiches.

  32. Cindy Arco says:

My go-to guac recipe is one from Rick Bayless: onions, tomato, jalapeno, garlic, salt, pepper & lime juice – delicious and refreshing!

  33. Cindy Arco says:

I, of course, like your Facebook page :)

  34. Mashed avocados, diced plum tomatoes, lime (or lemon juice), garlic salt, cumin, diced red onion, cilantro And for a wild variation that I use on shrimp tacos, add diced fresh or frozen (NOT CANNED) pineapple.

  35. I tweeted and facebooked!
