Thriv T-shirt Contest and Fitness Goals
Awesome giveaway in today’s post, people!
You may recall I hosted an “Ask the RD” breakfast table at FitBloggin in March. There were some incredible vendors there, including a new athletic wear company called Thriv. Thriv supplied super-soft bamboo and cotton FitBloggin t-shirts to all attendees. Not only are they super-soft, but they’re also anti-odor, wicking, have SPF, and are breathable. Perfect for those all-out, sweaty workouts. Oh, and they’re nice looking too! Thriv has an online store with clothing for all sorts of active lifestyles, including yoga, running, and tennis with more styles and sizes to come in the fall.
I’ve been wearing my Thriv T to physical therapy constantly. I love it! Most of you know I had hip surgery just 4 months ago. It’s been a rough road to full recovery and my killer workouts had to take a hiatus. In their place, I’ve been a slave to physical therapy, and am also able to bike on the trainer, swim, and walk (I’m up to 4 miles – woahhh!).
I love setting fitness goals – it’s the only way I was ever able to train for a few half marathons and a triathlon. And my personal fitness goals keep me very motivated. Lately I’ve had to take a step back, re-calibrate my fitness goals, and see what my little hip is capable of.
Long term? I want to do more triathlons and keep improving my 10k race times. And short term? I want to reactivate my gym membership this summer. I want to start up pilates. And I want to do a full 45 minute non-stop swim session with no flotation devices. Pain free.
What are your fitness goals? Share your long or short term goals to enter and I’ll do a random drawing for someone to win a comfy Thriv t-shirt! I’ll announce the winner on Thursday and will contact you for your shirt size and mailing address, so make sure to include your email address!
For more information about Thriv, check out their website or find them on Facebook and Twitter.
Note: I am not being paid to promote Thriv.

This year my long term goal is training for a full marathon. I’ve done 4 half marathons & various other smaller distances. I’m excited & mostly scared that I’m going this far! My goal is to finish it and still be able to walk. I was running/walking, but I’ve learned I’m a walker, not a runner. So my short term fitness goal is to walk fast for greater distances. I can do a 12-13 minute mile for several miles, then I slow down. I hope it goes well with your fitness goals. I would love to win a Thriv shirt!
I hope you’re hip heals quickly. My long term goal is to participate in a 5K by the end of this year (hopefully sooner than that though!). I’ve started running in the past few months, along with a yoga class. I’m not very fast, but I really just want to complete the 5K : ) . I’d also like to improve my swimming because right now I can only swim 2-3 laps with some breath still in me!
Mine may seem very small, but I want to be able to run a half marathon someday. I’ve never seen myself as anyone with remotely any athletic ability or even close to being physically fit, but this past year, I’ve really surprised myself by actually enjoying going to the gym and running, so I want to see what else I can do!
i adore that photo of you on the bike! and these shirts sounds great! are they in any retail locations in Boston?
I love fitness goals! otherwise I’ll just wind up plateau-ing. Right now my fitness goals are to run a half marathon in under 1:50 and chicago in under 4 hrs. Long Term-I want to complete my first 50 mile race by next june!
Hmm, I don’t know of any Boston retail locations. I’ll let you know if I find them! 50 mile race?! You are a rockstar.
A half marathon is certainly no small goal! That’s fantastic! I never in a million years thought I’d run any races let alone a half marathon and triathlon but goal setting got me there. Good luck!
Sara if you have any swimming improvement tips for me, I’d love to hear them! It’s exhausting!!! You’ll be great in a 5k and I bet you’ll be hooked on running races after you do it!
Stacey, good luck training for a full marathon! Wow!
Thanks so much for the encouragement Janel! : ) I really wish I had some great swimming advice, but sadly I don’t. But as soon as I get some, I’ll try to pass it along to you!
I just ran a half-marathon and loved it so I will continue to improve on my running time by interval training. It’s suppose to get your speed up.
Hello! Before my wedding, I worked out almost everyday and was in fairly good shape; I wanted to look good! After that, I was pretty much couch surfing for a few months. So to get myself motivated, I entered myself in a 5K and started running. I just finished my 5K last Monday. My next goal is to keep up my workout routine so I can run races with my dad this summer (he’s a runner recovering from back surgery).
Hey Katie, interval training totally works. It shaved a full minute off my mile!
Congrats on your 5k Leah!
I wanna wicking t-shirt!!!
2010 goals: run NYC Grand Prix (a half marathon in every borough – 2nd one next weekend), qualify for NYC marathon, shave time off pace; get on the race bike on the road, not just the trainer; play summer/fall rugby in best shape yet,
2011 goals: Empire State run-up, NYC marathon
Ooo empire state run-up sounds fun!
86 flights up to the top – let’s do it!!! http://www.nyrr.org/races/2010/r0202x00.asp
Tho it says you have to be invited to participate – I guess I’m adding that to my goal… >>sigh<<
This year I’ve been cycling focused, after having run 4 marathons in the previous 3 years. I’ve completed my first century ride and plan on entering my first UCI road race this fall. Eventually, I plan on building run and bike fitness together, and to add swimming experience to be able to better compete in triathlon. Above all, I just want to get in great shape!
Zach that’s awesome! What is a UCI road race? Sounds intense if it’s more than a century ride!
My goals are to run my first 10k (did first 5k about 2 weeks ago!) and to do a mountain bike race for the first time in years. I’d love to do the races in a Thriv shirt!
Mountain bike racing sounds gutsy. Good luck Megan!
My short term goal is to do a sprint triathlon (June 28th) and my long term is to run a marathon. I trained for a marathon this winter but got a stress fracture on my shin after my 20 mile run right before tapering, so needless to say I REALLY want to run a full marathon.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Good luck with the sprint tri Liz. I loved the one I did and hope you do too!
That photo is adorable! I am planning to run my first half marathon this fill. In the meantime, I’m working to incorporate more strength training and yoga into my routine to balance out the pavement pounding.
…and by “this fill,” I mean this fall. Yikes.
Well, I have about 90 pounds to lose and I’m horribly out of shape. But the last few months, I’ve been doing a women’s fitness boot camp 4 mornings a week and I joined 24 Hour Fitness today after trying one of their Zumba classes last night… and finding that I am no longer a good dancer like I was when I was thin and fit! Anyway, I’m the biggest girl in my boot camp and I have to modify a lot of stuff, like planks, push ups, etc., but I keep at it! My short-term goal is to progress to the point of not having to modify anything anymore and to be able to do my timed runs without having to walk part of the way. I also want to start working on the Couch-To-5K Running Plan so I can incorporate running/jogging into my fitness regime. I would really love to be able to run the San Francisco Bay to Breakers this time next year! P.S. I also tweeted about this contest (@JulieMaeReck)!
Hi Julie Mae, sounds like you’re really killing it with your fitness goals. Congrats! I’m sure you’ll be a pro at the boot camp classes in no time.
