The food of Florence
Remember back in March when I won the trip of a lifetime to Italy from Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante Pizza? I didn’t think people actually won those trips either but we did! And after a few months planning, we decided to spend our 5 days in Florence at the most amazing villa on earth: Villa San Michele. Pure heaven. Funk and I had the time of our lives exploring Florence and relaxing at our stunning villa, pinching ourselves daily to make sure our luck was real, though it felt like a dream.
I’ll put up some blog recaps of our trip once I organize all of our many photos, but til then, I’ll leave you with photos of the food. Oh, the food. It’s as amazing as they say, and then some. We were fed like royalty at the Villa San Michele and after 5 days, I decided breakfast was my most favorite part of the trip. (Funk’s highlight was meeting Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino and his wife Stacey, and Sox owner John Henry and his wife over breakfast.) I’ll be dreaming about the olives, olive oil, Chianti, cherry tomatoes (best I’ve ever had), breakfast pastry, cappuccino, and fresh green apple juice for a very long time. Thank you a million times over to the Ketchum and Dr. Oetker’s people for this unforgettable trip of a lifetime.

These look amazing/delicious! You and funk are too adorable!
Yum!! I’m hungry just looking at all the pics. Italy might have just moved up to #1 on my list of places to visit.
Your trip looks like it was amazing! I just posted about it at http://www.bellyglad.com/2010/07/bellyglad-reader-wins-romantic-trip-for.html
Love the post. We had the most amazing time! Feel free to keep posting awesome contest press releases!
Love this post! I live in Rome and it’s so great to see classic Italian cooking filling up your page
The “leg of something” in your picture is hand cut whole prosciutto (cured ham)-amazing! Maybe one of my favorite things ever. So glad you enjoyed your trip (isn’t the gelato amazing, they say the key to the creaminess is fresh, whole milk)
So jealous you get to enjoy this amazing Italian cuisine every day!
