    About the almonds, in the Middle East, we eat almonds very early in the spring. The seed at that time is still juicy, green, and soft–similar to cucumber seeds. They are sour, and with some salt, the taste is fantastic. (I probably shouldn't announce that I'm a dietitian) Ethnic stores here in VA sell them in March. I'll try to take a picture and write a post.
